Chocolate & Vanilla Dipping Sauces

Here are two different recipes for the coating but the instructions are the same.

Chocolate dipping sauce:
  • 1/2 c. milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 c. semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 Tbls. shortening
  • Melt the chips with the shortening over low heat or in the microwave. Stir until smooth. Dip strawberries (washed & patted dry) or pretzels or peanut butter-cracker sandwiches or dried apricots (you get the idea!!) in chocolate & place on wax paper lined tray. Place in refrigerator until firm.


    Vanilla dipping sauce:
  • 1 2/3 c. vanilla milk chips (or white chocolate chips as some people
  • refer to them)
  • 1 Tbls. butter-flavored shortening
  • Melt the chips with the shortening over low heat or in the microwave. Stir until smooth. Dip strawberries (washed & patted dry) or pretzels or peanut butter-cracker sandwiches or dried apricots (you get the idea!!) in chocolate & place on wax paper lined tray. Place in refrigerator until firm.
