The Chewy Chocolate Cookie

Hershey's Easy-Does-It Recipe #6
(mixes in 5 minutes!)

  • 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla
  • 2 cups unsifted all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup Hershey's Cocoa
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup finely chopped nuts, optional
    1. Cream butter or margarine and sugar in large mixer bowl.
    2. Add eggs and vanilla; blend well.
    3. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt; blend into creamed mixture.
    4. Stir in nuts, if desired.
    5. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheet.
    6. Bake at 350 F. for 8-9 minutes.
    7. (Do NOT overbake. Cookies will be soft. They will puff during baking,
    8. flatten upon cooling.)
    9. Cool on cookie sheet until set, about 1 minute; remove to wire rack to cool completely.
    10. Makes about 4 1/2 dozen.

    If you like fudge brownies you'll love these. As the recipe says don't over bake you want them soft and mushy. Remember -DO NOT- over bake.
